The Department of Teacher Education at the University of Southern Indiana, a public university in Evansville, Indiana, seeks applications for a 9-month, tenure track Assistant Professor of Education. The appointment will begin August 2023. The department houses a wide variety of undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Currently, greatest needs include elementary education, special education, reading/literacy, graduate programs, and building/district administration.
1) doctoral degree in Education or closely related field and 2) a minimum of 3 years, full time K-12 teaching experience in a classroom setting (specify grade levels). ABD considered at the rank of Instructor if doctoral degree is not conferred by hire date.
The Assistant Professor will be expected to teach courses designed for education majors at the undergraduate and graduate levels; advise students; serve on dissertation committees; engage in service-related activities including participation in departmental, college, and university meetings and committees and professional organizations; and, initiate and collaborate in research and grant activities leading to scholarly presentations and publications. Although some courses are taught in distance education formats, applicants should expect that an on-campus presence will be required throughout the term of their employment.
