The position begins in August 2025.

The Department of Educational Leadership and Higher Education Administration is a dynamic group of faculty members committed to preparing educational leaders at all levels. Our programs provide educators in a variety of settings with the skills necessary to identify challenges or questions in their practice and develop research agendas to inform possible solutions and initiatives. The faculty position involves teaching courses in higher education, student affairs, curriculum & instruction, and/or research methodologies. Teaching is typically in-person but may sometimes be online and/or hybrid in both synchronous and asynchronous formats. The ideal candidate will use innovative teaching skills and demonstrate attention to the learning and teaching needs of the department’s students. The ideal candidate’s experience, expertise, and specialized training will serve to strengthen the department’s on and off campus efforts. The faculty member will collaborate with other departmental faculty and staff to ensure student success. The typical workload involves teaching three (3) graduate courses per semester. The incumbent will complete a distance education training program within the first year of employment.
 
Responsibilities include:

  • Teach graduate level courses in the Educational Leadership and Higher Education Administration program. Additional courses/assignments may be assigned within area(s) of specialization based on department needs
  • Engage in scholarly activities, including research, publications, and presentations. This is essential for tenure and promotion
  • Advise and mentor students
  • Serve the College, University, and the community through participation in various committees
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • A doctorate degree in Educational Leadership, Higher Education Administration, Curriculum & Instruction, or a closely related field completed on or before August 2025
  • Ability to effectively communicate in writing and verbally, and present dynamically to a variety of constituents
  • Teaching experience at K-12 and/or higher education level
  • Experience supervising students in a teaching assistant and/or internship program
  • Active research agenda
  • Demonstrated experience advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Experience teaching courses in educational leadership, higher education administration and/or research methodologies at a college/university level; and/or
  • Experience in program coordination in Higher Education and Student Affairs; and/or
  • Record of academic scholarship; and/or
  • Experience advising graduate students; and/or
  • Demonstrated experience teaching critical perspectives in higher education and educational leadership; and/or
  • Experience teaching in various modalities, including online synchronous, online asynchronous, or a hybrid format
